Two Hillsborough College (HC) students, Amaia Delgado and Shauna Keller Pereira, have been named 2026 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an international honor society that recognizes academic achievement for students at two-year colleges, cover educational expenses while they pursue their associate degrees. Scholars are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential.
The funds provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation not only aid college completion but also give students the opportunity to engage in prestigious programs and develop leadership skills that prepare them to become future leaders in their communities.
Amaia Delgado, an honors student majoring in psychology, plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Florida International University after graduating from HC. Shauna Keller Pereira, also a psychology major, plans to transfer to the University of South Florida after completing her studies at HC.
“I am honored to congratulate Amaia Delgado from the Dale Mabry Campus and Shauna Keller Pereira from the Plant City Campus on their selection for the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship,” said Myria Evans, collegewide coordinating advisor for PTK at Hillsborough College. “Scholarships within Phi Theta Kappa are extremely competitive, so it is with great pride that two members from our college were selected.”
